The book is designed as a resource tool for ostomates of all ages. It covers every facet of ostomy life including applicable benefits; travelling with a bag; intimacy; paediatric ostomates; employers' and schools' legal obligations; specialist clothing; coping with depression; body image; and appliance choices.
The author's husband, Philip has contributed essential information for carers.
What we say….
An excellent book that combines facts with humour and is honest about the highs and lows of living with this condition. It is equally useful for patients as for those supporting them. You will find the book both informative and reassuring as well as providing a reliable source of reference that you will keep coming back to.
About the authors
Elizabeth Prosser had a successful career as an international business writer before she retired. She joined the ostomy community after an operation for Crohn’s disease and decided to write this book to help other sufferers. A large percentage of the royalties from the proceeds of the book go to ostomy charities worldwide.
Philip Prosser had a successful career in transport management and later bought a farm with his wife. When she became ill, he helped her to write this resource book for ostomates. He felt it was something that he and his wife would have benefitted from as there was so little information and help available.
