FAQs
How is the Dry Guardians treatment system different to other bedwetting alarms?
The Dry Guardians treatment system offers an innovative approach to bedwetting alarm treatment. It:
- offers a flexible combination of alarms, specialised clothing, and a free downloadable app
- uses cutting-edge Bluetooth technology. The alarm sensor communicates with the app and/or a speaker unit, triggering alarms and recording wetting incidents to help you monitor progress.
- offers a choice of trousers, shorts, boxers or briefs equipped with clip-on alarms, featuring moisture-detecting fabric for instant activation. This design helps your child to wake earlier and promotes a quicker response to bedwetting incidents.
- The clothing enables the alarm sensors to comfortably clip onto the waistband. The trousers and shorts are crafted from special materials that absorb urine, protecting bedding and mattresses. This allows for swift changes, enabling your child to return to sleep promptly.
How does the Dry Guardians app work?
The Dry Guardians app is free to download and is available to use on Iphone and Android devices.
It is connected to your alarm with bluetooth technology and enables you to track your child's progress on a daily calendar.
The app supports multiple devices, allowing families or individuals to track their progress by using the same email and password.
The app will offer feedback via text notifications and by video to offer advice along the way and to give you and your child motivational messages to help continue the treatment.
How many items of clothing do I need to buy?
The Dry Guardians treatment system can be used with or without items from the Pjama clothing range.
The budget alarm option - the Pjama Connect alarm - comprises one sensor that is worn inside your child's own pyjamas or underwear.
If you opt for the alarm that clips onto Pjama's shorts, trousers, boxers or briefs, you can select from a range of bundles that include one or two items of clothing.
The number of items of clothing you choose will depend on:
- the frequency of your child's wetting (do they wet every night or more than once each night?)
- if you have a tumble dryer - (the trousers and shorts take up to 48 hours to line-dry, but can be dried in a tumble dryer for use over consecutive nights)
- what level of bedding protection you require - the trousers and shorts absorb urine, protecting your child's mattress. The briefs and boxers are not absorbent and work best with separate bedding protection (e.g. a waterproof bed pad or sheet)
What age can my child start using this treatment?
Bedwetting alarms are recommended for use from age 5.
However, deciding if this is an appropriate treatment depends on your individual child.
To successfully use an alarm, children need to be self-motivated and able to use an alarm, with support from their parent. Some 5 year olds are ready for this. Others may not be ready until they're older.
